"Jesus did not say, 'I have come that they might have religion,' but, 'I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.' For the real Christian, every day is God's day."

- William Barclay

Advent Care Team

The mission of Advent's Care Team (ACT) is to support the congregation with prayers and provide a caring atmosphere for members and newcomers at Advent.

Below are summaries of the various elements of Advent's Care Team.

Prayer Team

ACT's prayer team lift up prayers for specific concerns of the congregation.  Requests are received from online requests , phone messages, prayer cards, and members of the congregation.

Care Notes

During difficult times, ACT members also provide support by writing Care Notes for persons in need.

Prayer Shawls

A recent addition to Advent's Care Team is the creation and distribution of prayer shawls to those experiencing significant loss or time of crisis.

Knitters in the congregation make the shawls (donations of yard are always welcomed) for the individual.  Then people gather to pray over the shawl before it is given, with love, to the person.

Leigh Sharp is the team leader of this ministry.

Meals

Through the Advent Care Teams, meals are prepared for those recovering from surgery, hospitalization, or serious illness.  Other meals are provided at the time of bereavement.

The Advent Caring Team (ACT) needs you!

Short on time? That's ok; we just need a little help with meals. If you are interested in helping to provide a main dish, side dish, dessert or even a beverage or salad, that would help complete a meal; for someone in your Advent Family.

Please send an email to Pam Pritchett at pritchett365(at)gmail.com.

With your support, Advent can be the Hands and Feet and most of all, the Heart of Christ.

Flower Ministry

This ministry takes the altar flowers after the final worship service of the day (if they have been donated by the givers to the church) for distribution to our shut-ins and those facing sad times in their lives.

Members of this ministry re-arrange the single large bouquet of flowers from the sanctuary into smaller, more appropriately-sized bouquets.  These flowers, that have heard the hymns and prayers of God's people during worship, are then delivered on Monday morning by other members of this ministry.
