Advent has a rich mission history of recognizing that near and far there are many who hunger for a variety of things. Perhaps it is food for the dinner table, shoes for a child or nails to repair a roof. Worship also holds a special significance for Advent as all of us hunger for a closer personal relationship with Christ. The Worship and Missions committees have joined together to invite you to a brand new tradition. Each month during Communion, as we quench our spiritual hunger at the Lord’s Table, we will have an opportunity to feed others. During the offering time before we come to the Table, we will celebrate an Extending the Table by bringing offerings to the front of the sanctuary. Some months, these offerings may be canned goods; another month, it may be gloves; another month, it may be a monetary gift. All of these will be used by our Missions team to help those in need. We pray that this time of preparation during the offering will enable you to receive more fully the gift God has prepared for you in Jesus Christ.
Our next Extending the Table opportunity is June 3, when donations will be collected for our summer missions.
