November 1-11, a second United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) team will minister in Cuba. Each team member is committed to using their gifts, graces, and resources to assist people in Cuba, walking alongside them in faith and seeking to improve their living standard.
Through the amazing influence of the Holy Spirit, the Cuban church almost doubles in size every four years. Under the direction of the United Methodists of Cuba, this team will start a second story on the small 40' X 50' church we worked on last year in Havana. This church was closed for over twenty years because it was in a communist community; however, two ladies prayed in the closed church every day until it was reopened about seven years ago. The Pastor's daughter is Sadet, a child with special needs, and we dedicated a special wheelchair for her in April during worship at Advent. Team members from Advent will include: Rev. Beverly CroweTipton, Bill Allison, Judy and Rev. Nick Elliott.
The next mission to Cuba is scheduled for December 2012. Please contact Nick Elliott if you are interested in serving. Teams must be filled a minimum of three months prior to departure.
