The 2008 Charge Conference of Advent UMC was held on October 29 as part of our annual Nigh On The Ranch.  Dr. Charles Johnson, Superintendent of the Greenville District, was present to preside over the meeting.

This short depicting the many events during the past year started the conference. Highlights of the mission and ministry of Advent since the 2007 Charge Conference were reported by Dianne Perry, Chair of Church Council. Leigh Randall, Director of Youth, was asked by Dr. Johnson to share highlights of Advent youth in ministry. Holly Kendall, member of Advent and an United Methodist Deaconess, shared comments regarding her ministry. Barbara Ware, member of Advent and District Lay Leader spoke briefly. In addition, appointed pastors, Susan Leonard-Ray and Pete Berntson, presented reports of their pastoral duties.

The voting members of the Charge Conference approved the 2009 salaries of the appointed pastors and the slate of leaders for 2009.  Members also voted to continue candidates for ordained ministry, Certified Lay Speakers, and individuals to be bonded.

Dr. Johnson presented Advent with a certificate of appreciation for contributing 100% of our apportionments, which Dr. Johnson considers the lifeblood of the United Methodist connection.
