Afternoon Sunday School

Sunday school in the afternoon. It�s no mistake! Beginning September 14th from 3:45-4:45, join Barbara Ware and Kellie Alexander for Bible study in the afternoon. Meetings will be in the room just to the left of the Sanctuary. Details coming soon.

Do you like to cook? Chop and dice or just chat? We need some extras hands on Wed mornings to help prepare Wed night dinners. We begin at 9:00 and are finished before 12:00 every Wed. No experience needed. We would love to have you join us weekly or every other week.

Check out the latest slideshow sharing some of the excitement of the "Go For The Gold" Cub Scout Olympics held on the Advent campus on August 17. Advent Cub Packs 733 and 833 hosted this open event. You can see how much fun they had!

Cookies Wanted!

We need cookies, cookies, cookies for the girls' Epiphany Prison Ministry weekend coming up Friday, September 5, at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.

Pull out the stops (but please leave out nuts and peanut
butter) and let's see what you can do. Each batch must include at least 25 cookies, because we will have up to 25 girls participating in the weekend. Becki Fogle will take the cookies to Columbia on Thursday, September 4, and can pick them up as late as Wednesday evening at church. Please give her a call at 864-228-3826 if you're interested in showing off your cookie-baking expertise.

Opportunity number two - would you like to sponsor a meal for one of the girls? At mealtimes, each girl is given a "meal ticket" with a donor's name (first name only!) telling them that this person paid $5 for this meal for her and that they are praying for her during the weekend. Yes, it does make an impact on the girls. Please call Becki Fogle at 864-228-3826 if you'd like to sponsor a meal (or two!)

Hall Monitors Needed

If you are willing to devote an hour once a quarter, you can make a difference in our children�s programming. We are seeking Hall Monitors to serve during the worship hours. If you are willing to serve in this capacity, please email Laurie at laurie(at)advent-umc.org and let her know if you would prefer to serve during the 8:45 or the 11:00 service. All volunteers must complete Safe Sanctuaries Training!

Inquirers' Class

Our next Inquirers' Class starts Sunday, September 14, during the Sunday school hour, in the Dining Room of the Christian Life Center. The remaining four classes in this series will be September 21, 28 and October 5 and October 12. Hosts for these sessions will be members of Advent's Evangelism Team.

These informational sessions are intended for anyone interested in knowing more about the United Methodist Church, Advent's DNA, and the significance of membership. Those wishing to join Advent (not a requirement to attend these classes) will be received on October 26 at any of the three worship services.
