The season of Lent begins February 17 and for centuries Christians have with intention used this season to prepare themselves for the celebration of Easter and all that it means to our faith. Often people associate the season with "giving up" something, but this season, consider "taking on" something. Consider taking on the opportunity to gather in small groups with fellow believers at Advent to learn from biblical characters most closely associated with Jesus.
So...
- if your strong desire is to be in community..
- if you yearn to be connected with others who are just beginning this journey of faith...
- if you have been on this journey for a very long time and wish to connect with fellow "seekers"...
- if you've always wanted to know more about the people who were connected to Jesus...
- if you've ever been curious about Jesus' influence on the people around him...
...then sign up to join one of many small groups forming during the season of Lent to study the lives and experiences of those close to Jesus. We'll use the book Gospeled Lives by John Indermark. Each day participants prepare themselves by reading a 3-4 page devotion. Once a week, group members will gather for discussion, dialogue, and worship.
Small groups of 8-10 people will gather at a time suitable to the group to study, pray, and explore the life we all strive to live. Advent members who long to share their journeys with others will facilitate these groups. If you are interested, please call Pastor Beverly at 288-8217 or Barbara Ware at 350-6600, sign up online or in the sanctuary narthex.
When you sign up, please indicate your preference for a weekday morning, weekday evening, or a weekend group meeting time.
